Southwell's 18,22,28 February & 5 March fixtures moved

The British Horseracing Authority has today confirmed that four of Southwell's upcoming fixtures have been moved as follows:

18 February - moved to Newcastle
22 February -  moved to Chelmsford City
28 February - moved to Kempton Park
5 March - moved to Wolverhampton

This is because the original fixtures were due to be floodlit and there has been a delay in installing floodlights at Southwell.

The 22 & 28 February fixtures were originally leased from the BHA on a one-year basis and were moved to Chelmsford City and Kempton Park following the usual process for re-offering BHA leasehold fixtures.

All four will remain evening fixtures, with race programme details and further fixture information available via the Racing Admin website www2.racingadmin.co.uk in due course.

Entry and declaration deadlines will remain as previously.

Southwell's 29 January fixture moved to Wolverhampton and 5 February fixture moved to Newcastle

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today confirmed two of Southwell's fixtures have been moved to other racecourses as follows:

Tuesday 29 January - moved to Wolverhampton
Tuesday 5 February - moved to Newcastle

This is because the original fixtures were due to be floodlit and there has been a delay in installing floodlights at Southwell.

Both will be evening fixtures, with race programme details and further fixture information for Wolverhampton available via the Racing Admin website www2.racingadmin.co.uk. Details for Newcastle on 5 February will be available in due course.

Entry and declaration deadlines will remain as previously.

Southwell's first two floodlit meetings transferred

The first two scheduled evening fixtures under floodlights at Southwell have been moved to alternative all-weather venues following an issue with the supply and installation of power cabling at the Nottinghamshire track.

Wolverhampton will now stage what would have been a landmark evening meeting for Southwell on January 29, while the second planned fixture will now take place at Newcastle on February 5.

Work on the power supply to recently-installed floodlights at the course will continue up until Christmas and into the new year.

Additional floodlit fixtures

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that an additional floodlit fixture will be staged each week for the next eight weeks having been agreed by British Racing's tripartite structure of BHA, Racecourses and Horsemen.

This is to provide additional opportunities for the high number of horses that have been eliminated from races in recent weeks as well as large numbers of horses that are looking for opportunities as the Flat season draws to a close. Since the beginning of September, there have been over 1,500 eliminations from Flat races.

The first of the eight fixtures will be on Thursday 18 October at Wolverhampton and then as follows:

Wednesday 24 October - Chelmsford City
Thursday 1 November - Newcastle
Wednesday 7 November - Chelmsford City
Thursday 15 November - Kempton Park
Wednesday 21 November - Wolverhampton
Thursday 29 November - Kempton Park
Wednesday 5 December - Newcastle

Entries for the 17 October fixture will close tomorrow, Saturday 13 October at 12 noon with declarations at the 48-hour stage as normal. Full race programme and fixture information will be available on the Racing Admin website www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.

Entry and declaration deadlines for the remaining seven fixtures will be as normal with further fixture and race programme details available in due course.

Additional Jumps Card at Newcastle

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced that an additional Jump fixture will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, 15th April at Newcastle.

The full race programmes and further fixture information will be available via the racing admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk from 3pm today. This is to allow time to take today’s afternoon fixture at Hexham into account in light of current weather conditions.

Entries for the seven-race card will therefore close at 12 noon on Wednesday, with declarations at the 24-hour stage as normal on Saturday, 14th.
