Limerick racecourse will stage its first Gr.1 race, and the first at that level to be run in Munster, as the Greenmount Park Novice Chase has been upgraded. The 2m3½f chase will also have increased prize money of €90,000 when it is run as the centrepiece of the four-day December meeting this year on Wednesday, 26th December. Limerick will also added a new Listed hurdle for mares to its programme, with the new race due to be staged on Sunday, 14th October.
Following the cancellation of Limerick last Saturday, Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) has announced the following race programme alterations to the Limerick meeting scheduled for this Thursday, 12th April.
The Greemount Park Beginners’ Steeplechase (Race 73E) has been deleted from this meeting
The Gr.3 Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Steeplechase and the Listed Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion 4-Y-O (Pro-Am) Flat Race have been added to this meeting from Limerick’s Saturday meeting to form an eight-race card.
The time of the first race will remain at 2pm and the last race will now be at 6pm.
Horse Racing Ireland yesterday announced that the cancelled Limerick meeting from Sunday, which was due to feature the Gr.2 EBF Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase and the Gr.3 EBF Shannon Spray Mares Novice Hurdle, will take place tomorrow.
The Navan meeting which was cancelled on Sunday has been rescheduled for Friday. The Gr.2 Webster Cup Chase and the Listed Kingsfurze Novice Hurdle remain part of the card, although the Gr.3 Flyingbolt Novice Chase has been deleted from the programme. As a result of this, the Listed Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase, which will be run at Thurles on Saturday, will now be run over two miles and two furlongs.
